JOHOR BARU: Johor needs a uniform car parking payment system for the convenience of users and to reduce confusion, said Skudai assemblyman Dr Boo Cheng Hau.
He added he has submitted a proposal on the matter to Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Mohamad Khaled Nordin on June 7.
He said several local governments like the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB), Johor Baru Central Municipal Council (MPJBT) and Kulai Municipal Council (MPKu) have implemented a new parking system for their respective areas recently.
“They use different apps and parking coupon which have caused confusion among the users,” he told a press conference at the Skudai community service centre here yesterday.

He said before the new system was implemented in May, there were two parking zones in the state using different parking coupons – the southern Johor was classified as zone B and the northern area as zone A.
He added that as the people have got used to this system it is better to maintain it.
He said MPJBT’s implementation of a mobile app and new parking coupon system last month has resulted in some agents still having plenty of the old parking coupons.
He added MPJBT has an obligation to buy back at full cost these old coupons which expire in 2017.
