JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has announced a major increase of more than 400% for the toll rates at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex starting August 1.
The rates for cars will be revised from RM2.90 to RM16.50 (RM9.70 inbound and RM6.80 outbound) and class two vehicles from RM4.50 to RM24.90 (RM14.70 inbound and RM10.20 outbound).
Class three vehicles would have to fork out RM33.30 (RM19.70 inbound, RM13.60 outbound) both ways from the previous RM6.10.
Taxis will have to pay a total of RM8.20 (RM4.80 inbound, RM3.40 outbound) from the previous RM1.40 and busses will have to fork out RM13.30 (RM7.80 inbound, RM5.50 outbound) from the previous RM2.30.
Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) director-general Datuk Ismail Mohd Salleh said in a statement that all charges will be implemented electronically at both sides using the Touch ‘n’ Go card.
Ismail added that the revised rates were appropriate given the facilities and services enjoyed by users that travelled to the complex from the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL).
The EDL is an elevated highway which was built to help disperse traffic leading towards the Johor Baru town area.
There are several exits from the EDL with the last exit leading directly into the CIQ.
Ismail reiterated that those who plied the 8.1km elevated highway to Johor Baru from the North South Expressway, Permas Jaya and Pasir Gudang and did not pass the CIQ would not be tolled.
However all Causeway users will have no choice but to pay the toll.
No explanation was provided as to the reason behind the sudden hike and LLM officials declined to comment when contacted.

Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) just know how to implement some lousy move and made malaysian road user to cost more. Let me tell you that ,this increase is a “chicken-feet” for singaporean. This toll charges will definitely cause B N to lose more seats in the next election. Singapore never charge their own vehicles entering or departure fees (only the toll charges) but they charge malaysian cars almost RM90 per entry after the 10 entry, excluding the toll charges. Their cars enter malaysia FOC and only pay the toll charges. Do you know Mr.Ismail, how many singapore cars and weekend car using the malaysian road each day ? Do you know how many singapore cars are pumping our subsidies fuels.
No wonder our country is so poor and the RM is going down like shit ! They do not know how to make money for the nation. You just look at the new CIQ how fuckup the building is, only 2 lance for car , one lance for bus and one lane for lory before you enter CIQ. Everywhere you can see illegal parking at CIIQ, Who cares? who bothers ? Can you see this type of situation in Singapore ? If you put a entering fees of RM90 for foreign vehicles, nobody said you are stupid or else….
This is the trick. Before GE13, this exorbitant toll charges was cancelled after vehement protest. Now the minority government is up to its trick again. How does the mere 8.1km EDL justify for such enormous toll rate ?? This is the most stupid government. This is a regime against the people. Wake up malaysians, is this the type of government you want to live with ??? Vote them out come the next GE. A 400% toll hike is definitely inhumane and ridiculous
singapore implement the toll hike to control the traffic flow in thier country. we must understand that singaporen invest so much money in iskandar project, same goes malaysian we work there for their country.the moral of my stories is WHY GIVING US HARD TIME
Those Singapore buying properties in Johor will know now that they paying the higher prices when they stay in Johor n drive to work every days to Singapore base on every days they have to pay n the jam for few hours during the weekend holidays

S$1.13 to S$6.50. Wow 400% increase eh. 80 cent spore per litre save on petrol. Save on grocery and entertaiment not sure how much save done. I suppose IF next year increase toll to RM20 about 20% increase if won’t be so bad then. Aiyoh.

Agree with tolls fee increase 400%..good plan for economic built up..good plan for mlaysian for making fair n square to singapore who always,enjoy to entry their country toll very expensive,but,mlysia is very cheap..not fair at all..
LLM is aimed to control the traffic flow at the CIQ which also help Johor state to raise extra tax revenue. These can use to build extra road and elevate the standard of our Johor road system. Good move. You have my 100% support.
